Jhana Boy – Girl from the Year Above

“She said, I don’t know why you’re here, you are boring me to tears. I don’t care how you feel, you are boring me”.

Relatively unknown artist, Jhana Boy, presents us with his second single titled Girl from the Year Above. This alt-pop/rock song heavy with 80’s sound, tells the story of a lovestruck man in a toxic relationship and the ultimate toll it takes on his self-worth and personal identity. Lyrics give way to a tale of self-sacrifice, unwavering love/adoration, verbal abuse, jealousy, and degradation. It’s unrequited love at its worst. The bizarre yet wonderful symphony of 80’s sonic sound (synths, tambourine, drum machine, wonky sax) make this song hypnotically catchy and worthy of a listen.
